About the Recipe

Listen up, buttercup, because we're about to make the easiest, sexiest dessert known to humankind: Chocolate-Covered Strawberries, (aka: "How to Look Fancy Without Trying").

Gear Up (aka the stuff you'll need):

  • Double boiler, or glass/stainless steel bowl over a pot of barely simmering water, or a microwave and a glass bowl (because we are safety conscious)

  • Rubber spatula

  • Whisk

  • Toothpicks

  • Parchment paper

The Good Stuff (aka the ingredients)

  • 16 ounces of milk chocolate chips (because who are we kidding, milk chocolate is king - BUT you can mix a combination of milk, dark, semi-sweet, white - you do you)

  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, or shortening (don't ask, just do it. It makes it smooth, like your pick-up lines should be)

  • Toothpicks (for stabbing, obviously)

  • 1 pound of fresh, juicy strawberries with their leafy hats still on (they're the VIPs)

Let's Get Baking (aka the instructions)

  • Round up your ingredients. And maybe some snacks, because chocolate melting takes…well, 20 minutes.

  • Melt It Down: Throw your chocolate chips and shortening into a double boiler (or a bowl over simmering water, if you're a rebel). Stir occasionally until it's all smooth and glossy, like a freshly waxed car. Or even easier, melt in the microwave in short 15-30 second bursts. Don't burn it!

  • Stab and Dip: Grab a toothpick and impale a strawberry by its leafy crown. Dip that sucker into the melted chocolate, twirl it around like you're at a chocolate disco, and make sure it's fully coated.

  • Cool Down Time: Flip the strawberry upside down and stick the toothpick into a Styrofoam block (if you're fancy) or lay it on some parchment paper (if you're normal). Let that chocolate harden, baby. Repeat until all your strawberries are looking their best.

  • Eat. Or, Like, Don't. I'm Not Your Mom: Enjoy! Or, if you're feeling extra, drizzle some white chocolate over them, throw on some sprinkles, or go nuts with nuts. You can even add little frosting bow ties, bells, butterflies, hearts, roses, etc. Seriously, go wild.

Important Stuff (aka the notes):

Don't be afraid to get creative! This is your canvas, and chocolate-covered strawberries are your masterpiece.

Now go forth and conquer the dessert world!
